If you have seen the Woodley Concert Band in action, chances are you already know who this man is. We present, Mr John Sayer. Until recently John led the brass section (Trumpets and Cornets) and has been responsible for helping to drive up the standard in the whole section.
Now, John has taken on a new challenge, as the Musical Director of Woodley Concert Band. He stepped in to the role of conductor on a temporary basis earlier this year, but the band are delighted to hear that John has now accepted the post for the next three years.
John has outlined his plans for the band over the coming year, which include expanding the range of music played by the band and encouraging even higher standards of playing (The Trumpet/Cornet section can tell you more about that!!).
Introduced to the Woodley Concert Band audience on Saturday 4 October, at the "Broadway" Concert, John received a warm and rapturous welcome.
Welcome to the baton, John!
