Who was that band?

The Reading Evening Post on 15 August published a story and photographs about the VJ Day Commemoration event in Reading's Forbury Gardens on Sunday 14 August. However they seemed a little vague about who the band was, and even what the band played......

To set the record straight....Woodley Concert Band was that band, and despite the Evening Post news story we didn't play Glenn Miller tunes all afternoon, but we did play a programme of music popular in the 1940's.

It was a wonderful day, with several hundred people taking part in the commemoration service and many staying right through the afternoon for the Woodley Concert Band concert in the bandstand.
